A clear view of
your project cost.

The film is one part of the price. Where the wires go and which windows you want to control also affect the total.

OTHER COSTS TO CHECK

Wiring + other work

Electrical work is priced by a licensed electrician. Delivery and any needed wall repairs are also checked for your project.

Before work starts, your quote should clearly show what is included and what costs extra.

02 / WHERE THE WIRES GO

Open walls can make wiring easier.

When a home is being built, it can be easier to hide the wires before the walls are finished. In a finished room, we first check where the wires can go.

While the walls are open

It is easier to plan where wires and power units go before drywall covers the wood frame.

After the walls are finished

Wires may fit through an existing path. Sometimes small openings in the drywall are needed, followed by patching and repainting.

Not every finished room needs a wall opening.

03 / CHOOSE HOW YOUR WINDOWS SWITCH

Together, or room by room?

Want your windows to switch together, or control different rooms separately? A zone is a group of window panels that switch clear or frosted together. Several window panels can be one zone. Rooms or groups you want to control separately need separate zones.

Each room has its own control.

This shows how the controls are grouped, not how to wire them. The right power units depend on the project.

Separate zones need their own transformers.

Window panels in one zone can share a transformer, the unit that powers the film. In our system, each separate zone needs its own transformer, which adds to the cost. The number and size of the window panels help us choose the right equipment. Larger zones may need more power equipment.

Meeting rooms can switch separately, too.

04 / COMMON QUESTIONS

A few helpful answers.

How much does smart film cost with installation?

The film and putting it on your glass cost $65–$80 per square foot. Electrical work, power equipment, delivery and any other needed work can add to the total. Your quote should show the full price.

Why can a small job cost more per square foot overall?

Even a small window may need a power unit, an electrician and delivery. These costs are spread over less glass, so they make up a bigger part of the total.

Is wiring included in film installation?

No. The price per square foot includes putting the film on the glass. Electrical work is checked and priced separately by a licensed electrician.

What else can change the price?

The number of window panels, hard-to-reach glass, moving doors, controls and delivery can affect the price. Your quote should explain any extra equipment or finishing work you need.

Can the wires be hidden?

Sometimes wires can run inside a window frame or wall. In other rooms, a small cover can keep them neat along the surface. The best choice depends on your windows and walls.
