Exposed timber framing and three tall black-framed windows before drywall

Smart privacy for your new home

At framing?
Plan privacy now.

You’re shaping how your home will look and feel. While the walls are open, it’s the ideal time to plan for smart film, before drywall and finishes go in.

A little planning now helps keep wiring hidden and preserves the clean look you want when your home is complete.

Before the walls close

What we plan while
the walls are open.

We work alongside the system planner to coordinate the low-voltage plan before the walls close.

  1. Confirm transformer locations.

Together, we identify suitable, accessible transformer locations for each smart film zone, whether in a central control area or elsewhere in your home.

  2. Plan routes to the windows.

We are mapping the low-voltage wiring routes and connection points at each window frame, coordinating the pre-wiring requirements with the system planner before drywall goes in.

The finish starts with the planning.

Keep the privacy.
Keep the clean lines.

Planning ahead helps conceal wiring within the walls and around the window frames. It can avoid reopening finished surfaces later and helps preserve the look you’ve planned for each room.

03 / When your space is ready

Plan now.
Install the film later.

Once the glass is in place and the space is ready, we apply the smart film directly to compatible glass.

We prepare the surface, carefully apply the film, finish the edges, and test the completed system. Smart film lets your glass switch between clear and frosted privacy.

Questions Before the Walls Close

Practical answers to help you plan.

Ask About Your Project
What should my builder plan before drywall?

Identify the glass to be treated, control zones, accessible power-supply locations and proposed routes to each opening. Coordinate the plan with Obscura and the project’s electrician or system planner before finishes conceal the routes. Component and cable requirements depend on the selected system.

When is the site ready for film application?

The glass must be in place and ready for preparation, and the surrounding work must allow a clean, protected installation. Confirm access, electrical readiness and the sequence of other trades before fixing the installation date. Film application happens later than the early wiring plan.

Can I still add smart film after the home is finished?

A finished space can still be assessed for retrofit film. The glass, frames, access and wiring route determine what is practical and which details may remain visible.
