From preparation to the final switch
How we install your smart film.
These are the four main stages of applying the film, once your glass and space are ready.

1. Prepare the glass.
We thoroughly clean and prepare the glass, removing dust, residue, and other impurities before application. Careful surface preparation gives the film a clean foundation.

2. Apply the film.
We carefully align and gradually apply the film directly to compatible glass, working across the surface for a smooth, consistent finish. This is a dry application.

3. Finish the details.
We finish the film edges and keep connection points discreet where the window design allows. Attention to these details helps preserve the clean appearance of your windows.

4. Test and hand over.
Once the electrical connections are complete, we check that the film switches correctly between clear and frosted, inspect the finished installation, and show you how to operate and care for it.
The Glass Is Only the Starting Point.
A good installation starts with the glass and the details around it. We review the surface, panel sizes, frames, moving parts and route to power. Before the film is ordered, the plan should show how connections will be finished and which components need to remain accessible.
What makes existing glass suitable?
Glass type, surface condition, coatings, panel dimensions and access all need review. Photos should show the whole opening and frame as well as the glass. Existing film, textured surfaces, damage or unusual shapes may need a different approach; suitability is confirmed for the project.
Can it be installed on sliding, folding or hinged doors?
Some moving doors can be suitable, but movement changes the wiring and connection requirements. The frame, travel path and power-transfer detail need review. Send a photo of the whole door assembly, not only the pane.
Can it be used in a bathroom or shower?
A bathroom window and glass exposed directly to water are different installations. Moisture exposure, the film specification, edge protection and the electrical layout must be assessed. Do not assume every film is suitable for a shower, steam room or outdoor surface.
Will I see wires or a border?
Some connection or edge details may remain visible. What can be concealed depends on the frame, finishes and route to power. Review those details before approving the installation, especially with frameless or narrow-frame glass.
Plan before finishes are completeDoes installation require an electrician?
The film connects to its specified power supply and controls. Obscura’s work covers film and low-voltage connections; any required mains electrical work is scoped separately with a qualified electrician. The quote should identify responsibilities for your setup.
Review the project processHow should I clean the film?
Follow the written care instructions for the exact supplied film and its exposed surface. Avoid abrasive cleaning and protect the film edges and electrical connections from moisture. Use only the cleaner and method approved for that product.
